Macedonian Aikidokas at the International Aikido Summit in Tokyo 2024.
In the Olympic year, three more Macedonian representatives will take part in a worldwide event that relates to Aikido martial art. From October 2nd to October 5th, the Macedonian Aikido Federation-Aikikai Macedonia sends Damjan Cingarski, Marija Dojcinovska and Veda Jegeni, all from the Henbo aikido club from Skopje, at the International Aikido Summit, which, like the Olympics, is held once every four years in Japan, the birthplace of aikido.
There are no competitions in Aikido, so it cannot find its place at the Olympics, but as such, an art with presentational, demonstrative character, has various platforms for Aikidoka's meetings around the world, where Aikido shows serve to see the achieved level of participants.
Our representatives will perform a three-minute demonstration within the summit, presenting Macedonia, in front of the very top of the world aikido teachers, Aikikai leader Moriteru Ueshiba, his son Mitsuteru Ueshiba, as well as the biggest names of today's Aikido, Hombu Dojo teachers, as well as in front of a large audience present to watch the event at the Yoyogi Olympic Center.
All other representatives of almost all countries around the world, as well as the most prominent masters of Aikido skill, will also make presentations.
Each demonstration is actually a choreography of a bare hand combat, or more precisely, the demonstrator fulfills various techniques for defending from and overcoming one or more attackers, who in each demonstration are in the role of assistants. The purpose of each demonstration is to show the harmonization of the participants whether they are in the role of defender or an attacker, and to emphasize the non-violent character of conflict resolution.
The event can be watched on social networks.
